The Friends of Peacehaven Botanic Park invite you to a free presentation on Thursday 18 February at the Highfields Tavern. (corner of Highfields and Obrien Roads, Highfields).
Kicking off the 2021 Tavern Talk series is horticultural teacher at TAFE Queensland South West, Peter Macqueen. Teaching in the areas of plant protection, plant identification, nursery production and gardening, Peter has a keen interest in all plants whether native, exotic, weedy, common or obscure, and sharing their identity, cultivation or control. .
Peter’s presentation will reflect his enthusiasm for trees of the region – their preservation, cultivation and care – and talk about the importance of pruning for tree care.
During the presentation Peter will cover the topics of:
· Knowing your plant
· Having a plan for why you are pruning
· Taking into consideration the plant you are pruning
· Reflecting on how the plant grows
The evening kicks off around 6.00 pm and dinner and drinks are at your own expense. The presentation will start around 7.00 pm
